carpet tiles flooring in officeAnyone who is renovating and looking for a new flooring may be considering installing carpet tiles.  They are still considered one of the most popular of the floor types and with good reason.  They are easy to install and anyone can do it without professional help.  However, before you get stuck on the idea, consider what all of the pros and cons are, so you can make the best decision for your home.

Carpet tiles do not require professional installation.  In fact, just about anyone can install them by themselves.  The tile will not have to be stretched and it is simply a matter of choosing a pattern, if any, and doing the measuring and cutting.
This type of tile resemble a traditional carpet enough that most people will not be able to tell the difference.  Should one tile become damaged, all you have to do is replace one and not the whole floor.
The tile will come in a variety of shapes and sizes and you can easily put them in any room.  Even a room with more complex dimensions can be done in this flooring and it will look as though a professional installed it.

If you do not lay the tile right, the actual seems will show.  While it is not complicated, it must be done right to look professional.
Over time, if the carpet tiles are in an area of heavy traffic, the ends of the tile could become worn and frayed.  Not only that, if you are placing them on an uneven floor, the tile could lift up and be a safety hazard, as well as an eye-sore.
When laying down the tile, each one will need to be put in place individually.  While it is quite easy to do, it can be very time consuming for the do-it-yourselfer.
